A group of volunteers for civil and charitable work, with the support of Syrian expatriate and white-handed youth, in the town of Kafarbham in the western Hama countryside, provide baskets, food aid, services and medical materials to needy and sick families in a charitable humanitarian initiative that will reduce the living burdens on the most needy segments of society.

Edmond Hanna, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kfarbham Charitable Association, the sponsor and concerned with the initiative, indicated in a statement to SANA correspondent that a number of expatriate youths wanted, through this humanitarian and charitable work, to stand by the people of their town to alleviate the difficult living conditions they face in light of the unjust economic blockade on Syria Pointing out that this initiative is in the process of expanding its scope of work to deliver support to the largest possible number of beneficiaries.

For his part, Jamal Al-Abdullah, a civil society activist in Kafarbhem, explained that the food, in-kind and material aid targets all the needy, with a focus on the families of the martyrs, the wounded and the displaced from the town from other governorates and regions due to terrorism.

Lawyer Nubar Abdullah, one of the civil society actors who support the initiative, stated that aid is provided periodically and in a manner that takes into account its fair delivery to those who deserve it.

Nazem Tohme, one of the participants in the initiative, indicated that it reduces the burden of living due to the siege imposed on Syria.

Mikhail Anka, a civil society activist, explained that there is currently a project that includes studying and preparing a list of the names of people in need in order to give them monthly or periodic salaries according to their living or social situation.

Fadi Shamout, a member of the initiative, explained that the initiative also has a medical side in addition to the charitable side, as it includes a medical and nursing team that is always ready to respond to any distress call by providing oxygen gas cylinders to patients in addition to sponsoring about 50 needy patients through conducting surgeries, inspections and prescribing. Free medical, value of medicines, analyzes and x-rays.

According to Shamout, during the past months, in light of the spread of the Coronavirus, patients were supplied with oxygen and 10,000 masks were distributed to the town's schools and government and private institutions.
