The carabinieri of the Reggio Calabria Company arrested the magician Davide De Simone, aged 40, on charges of manslaughter.
The arrest was made in execution of an order of custody in prison issued by the investigating judge of Palmi, Barbara Borrelli at the request of the acting prosecutor Giuseppe Casciaro and of the deputy Giorgio Panucci.
The 37-year-old wife of De Simone VG ended up under house arrest.
The man, according to the accusation, had managed to trick a mentally disabled person by pushing him to suspend a drug treatment and refuse an intervention, which led to his death.Davide De Simone, the Sicilian "magician" who practiced in the province of Reggio Calabria, arrested by the carabinieri, as well as for the crime of death as a consequence of another crime, is also accused of fraud, receiving stolen goods, sexual violence, circumvention of an incapable person, abusive possession of weapons and aggravated fraud. The investigation began in January 2019 when the carabinieri intervened inside a post office in Reggio Calabria, alerted by a report arrived at 112 by the director of the branch concerned about the attitude of a customer and a woman. It was De Simone and his wife who, following a personal and home search, were found in possession of various gold jewels, two cartridges for firearms and a large sum of money. The investigative investigations of the military made it possible to discover that the magician and his wife were a couple of skilled scammers in search of poor unfortunates to whom they promise the "miraculous" resolution of sentimental or health problems in exchange for money. In some cases, boasting supernatural powers, the magician De Simone boasted of being able to cure a disease or regain a lost partner. During the celebration of some esoteric rituals, De Simone also managed to "dupe" and rape three women who had turned to him to win back their soul mate. To do so, he had convinced them to perform "a sexual rite with him, through the medium of the holy spirit."
