Munich - The billions are just tumbling apart in the pandemic.

Of course, the state has spent too much on masks and protective material, and in the first wave partly got involved in lunar prices.

You can get angry about that, you can mock politicians who bought tens of thousands of mops too much for emergency hospitals.

A fair view, however, includes the following: If the state does not act in an extreme situation, if - as a sample vaccine order - it orders too late and too stingily, the damage afterwards may be many times greater: monetarily, health-wise, politically.

Nüßlein: The judiciary must punish such cases with full force

So a gray area.

It is not a gray area, but rather crime, when politicians enrich themselves in such deals.

The judiciary must punish accusations such as against the CSU man Nüßlein and against other penumbra plants from swamp-dark CSU epochs.

Establishing contacts with companies, including those from one's own constituency, is the task of well-paid parliamentarians at all levels;

should there have been returns for this into your own coffers, that is simply a criminal offense.

For the CSU and CDU, such allegations are devastating in the election year.

Effective initiatives for more political hygiene should now come from Bavaria in particular.

Stricter codes of conduct, far more extensive transparency rules and drastic sanctions, also within the party - the Union should quickly take the lead here, before individual cases add up to system failure.
