District - Last week, Prime Minister Markus Söder announced, surprisingly, that nurseries, flower shops as well as garden and hardware stores will be allowed to reopen from today, March 1st.

The editorial team asked some local companies.

"Yes, the easing came as a surprise now," says the store manager of the Dehner garden center in Peißenberg.

"But we are a large company and are therefore flexibly set up." At the end of last week, he said, packages with spring goods such as early blooming flowers, lettuce plants and herbs had already arrived in the market, and the shelves will be replenished in the coming days.

“But of course nobody knows what today's rush will be like,” says the store manager.

Therefore, there could be bottlenecks at the beginning, but the situation should normalize over the course of the week.

“And we all hope that the openings will last,” he adds.

Thomas Leinauer from the Leinauer nursery in Peiting does not feel taken by surprise by the spontaneous relaxation.

He personally expected the second week of March.

“The fact that things are returning to normal earlier is not bad either,” says the gardener.

On Saturday, the entrance area of the shop had to be remodeled because it had been used for Click & Collect in the past few weeks.

“But by and large we are well positioned,” he says.

According to the nursery owner, no compromises have been made in terms of the number of flowers; there will be the same number and selection of flowers as every year.

The head of the Schongau nursery May also sees his company well equipped for today.

Wolfgang May says: “We are more than happy that we are allowed to unlock again.” It was a little hectic because the easing came as a surprise, but he and his employees are very relieved about today.

Normally stocked again at the weekend

“We all pull together,” says the boss.

According to his statement, some employees were on short-time work;

According to May, the fact that the nursery provides the usual amount of flowers is also due to the suppliers. "They reacted incredibly flexibly and at short notice," he says.

When asked, Martin Glöckner from the V-Markt headquarters in Mauerstetten stated: “During the lockdown, we had to significantly reduce the range of plants in all of our branches.” This was also the case at the V-Baumarkt in Schongau.

Since the beginning of last week, according to Glöckner, as many goods as possible have been delivered to the individual locations.

“We should be stocked normally again around the coming weekend,” he says.

The entire workforce would be very happy about the openings.

In February, a few employees were on short-time work.

Fortunately, that was over with today's date.
