Iran denied this morning (Monday) that it was behind the attack on the Israeli ship Helios Ray in the Gulf of Oman, after a newspaper affiliated with the regime reported yesterday that the operation was carried out in response to the assassination of the head of the Iranian nuclear program, Muhsan Fahriza.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibazadeh said: "Iran is not behind the incident, we strongly reject the accusations. The security of the cruise in the Persian Gulf is of critical importance to Iran."
Khatibazada, quoted by the Iranian news agency Tassanim, attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, "Netanyahu's allegations regarding our nuclear project are for internal propaganda purposes."
