The Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau will launch two high school "Applied Learning (Occupational English)" courses in 2021-23, namely "English Communication" and "English for Service Professionals" , The total class time of each course is 180 hours; students who take the "Applied Learning (Occupational English)" course meet the assessment and attendance requirements, they will be awarded the qualification framework level 3 certificate issued by the course provider or the qualification framework of individual units certificate.

The courses of "English Communication" and "Professional English for Service Industry" will be offered in 2021-23, and the qualification framework level 3 certificate issued by the course provider or the qualification framework certificate of individual units can be obtained.

As an optional subject, although the results of "Applied Learning (Occupational English)" are not equivalent to the results of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education English Language Examination, students can also obtain the results of English Language as a required subject of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination.
