Opened in February to facilitate the vaccination of people far from the healthcare system, the Bobigny vaccination center will be the first to receive a visit from the President of the Republic since the launch of the campaign.

Emmanuel Macron must go this Monday to the vaccination center open in mid-February in Bobigny and dedicated to the most precarious seniors, announced the Elysee.

This is the president's first visit to a vaccination center since the campaign was launched in France two months ago.

He will be accompanied by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran.

The Bobigny center, opened on an experimental basis by the Regional Health Agency, the Prefecture and the Health Insurance Fund, is one of the measures set up in the department to facilitate the vaccination of people far from the healthcare system by lack of information, isolation, mobility difficulties or language barrier.

The centre's advisers directly contact underprivileged people over 75 years of age to offer them the vaccine and sometimes shuttles to pick them up.

"

By visiting this vaccination center, the Head of State will underline the involvement of the State and the Health Insurance to ensure equal access to vaccination against Covid-19

", underlines the presidency.

The heavy price paid during the first wave of the epidemic still hangs over this department of 1.6 million inhabitants, the poorest in mainland France.

The excess mortality rate reached 130% in March-April, the highest in Île-de-France.

A university study concluded that this excess mortality particularly affected disadvantaged elderly people from working-class neighborhoods.

In Seine-Saint-Denis, 23% of people over 75 or with comorbidities have already been vaccinated, according to the ARS.

But the department currently has the highest incidence rate in the region, at 385 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

This department, along with 19 others, could be subject to further restrictive measures.

Vaccination continues slowly in France, where the coronavirus has already killed 86,000.

Almost three million people have received at least one dose, including 1.561 million two doses.

The Head of State will make this visit after a first stage in the department devoted to the training of young people: the Industreet campus, a site funded by the Total Foundation which trains 18-25 year olds in industrial trades.

Emmanuel Macron is to announce measures to increase the number of young people supported by mentors, as part of the government agenda on “

equal opportunities

”.
