- When Nadja Fleckinger wants to see her two daughters, there is always a fence between her and them at the moment.

For almost three weeks she is not allowed to hug the two children, who have just started primary school, or to take them home with her.

The two girls are in corona quarantine and have to stay where they are.

For the mother from a town in the middle of the Ebersberg district, a disaster: "It's inhuman," she says.

Actually, Nadja Fleckinger has a different name.

The woman in her early 30s would rather not read her real name in the newspaper.

Because behind the weeks-long separation from their children lies a family problem: When the girls were with their ex-husband, who shares custody with her, Corona intervened.

Because someone in the household tested positive for the virus, all residents are under a two-week quarantine.

The two children too.

Actually, it would have been mum's turn to look after her again long ago, but the children have to stay with their father until well into the first week of March - to protect their mother, to whom they should not pass the virus on in the event of infection.

According to the mother, the girls have already tested negative, but that doesn't help against the quarantine.

For the family this means: visits to the fence and from a distance.

While one daughter is performing gymnastics tricks for her mother, the other one is crying.

According to the mother, the two little ones can't really understand why they can't see her.

“They keep asking when I can pick them up,” says the mother.

The only answer she could give: "Soon." Then almost three weeks will have passed.

Florian Robida from the district youth welfare office confirms that such cases occur again and again in this pandemic.

"The quarantine, which the health department orders in writing, violates the right of access," explains the team leader in youth welfare.

"We do what the health department says." Protection against infection comes first.

Understandably, this is often a drama for the parents.

Nevertheless, Robida also tries to understand what the regulation is about.

After all, it serves to protect the second parent so that they can be there for the children in an emergency.

As a case study, Robida mentions a family in which the father works as a craftsman for several days on assembly.

If the mother tests positive during this time and thus the children become contact and quarantine persons, the health department advises the father: "Better not go home."

This cannot be forbidden in this case, since it is the same household, but if one parent stays away from the possible source of infection, that could make a difference in an emergency.

The youth welfare office does not know the case of Nadja Fleckinger: The Ebersberger Zeitung treats your identity confidentially.

The youth welfare office employee gives the general advice in such cases to seek compensation after the quarantine, to talk to each other, to make up for the missed time with the children.

"This is how we try to cushion cases of hardship," says Robida.

The young mother cannot yet say whether this will also work for Nadja Fleckinger and her daughters.

At the moment she can only put her children off again and again with the one word: "Soon."

An illegal soccer game near Vaterstetten brought several parents to charges of corona violations.

The police ended the meeting on the soccer field.
