Russia confirmed that it would respond to the sanctions that the United States announced last week that it would impose them against Moscow.
A White House spokesman had announced earlier that Washington was preparing for sanctions against Russia over allegations that the US Internet networks were under widespread piracy attack, in addition to the "Alexei Navalny" case.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in a statement to TASS today that Moscow “will wait for sanctions and depending on their content and nature, it will respond,” adding, “We cannot measure the factors that will affect Washington’s mentality in this regard and what is the prevailing mood and the reasons for their decision-making .. In the same context, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Groshko announced in a statement to reporters today that Russia will respond to any possible sanctions imposed by the European Union against it, saying, “It is not a surprise to us and we have commented on the matter more than once .. Following a recent meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels, it was announced that a decision had been taken to expand European sanctions against Russia.
