The spirits in the political arena are stormy following the High Court's decision today (Monday) regarding the recognition of the Reform conversion.

It will be recalled that the High Court decided today (Monday) that anyone who has undergone a Reform or Conservative conversion in Israel will be recognized as a Jew. A person of another religion who undergoes the conversion will be able to enjoy the Law of Return and receive citizenship and immigration to Israel.

The High Court actually turned conditional orders issued in the past into absolute orders. The petitions were filed about 15 years ago and demanded that the state recognize conversion in a conservative or reform community as Jews for the purposes of the Law of Return.

The Labor Party, led by MK Merav Michaeli, responded to the decision because it welcomes the Supreme Court's decision to recognize reform and conservative conversions in Israel regarding the Law of Return. "The Labor Party will continue its struggles for a pluralistic and egalitarian society, recognizing all streams in Judaism.

"It is not for nothing that Rabbi Gilad Karib, who has been among the leaders of the struggle for the past twenty years, is at the top of the party's list for the Knesset of Israel. Thanks to the struggle of Rabbi Karib and his partners, many citizens and residents living in Israel will be able to register as Jews."

A right-wing party led by Naftali Bennett responded: "Once again, the High Court intervenes in government decisions and forgets its role.

The recognition of the State of Israel by conversion will be determined by the democratically elected representatives of the people, and not by jurists.

"The outline of miracles was and remains the right way to regulate the issue of conversion in Israel. We will make sure to institutionalize the conversion procedures in law."

Lieberman, head of the Yisrael Beiteinu party: "I congratulate the High Court on the historic decision to recognize a Reform and Conservative conversion.

"Yisrael Beiteinu" will continue to fight against religious coercion and will preserve the character of the State of Israel as a Jewish, liberal Zionist state. "

Shas chairman, Minister Aryeh Deri: The High Court's decision to recognize the Reform and Conservative conversions is a fatal blow to the Jewish character of the state and a complete destruction of the status quo in matters of religion and state that has existed for more than 70 years.

"This outrageous decision harms the unity of the people and is another expression of the severe detachment of the Supreme Court from most of the people in Israel, who believe in a Jewish state and want to preserve Judaism according to the tradition for thousands of years. Shas will support a law that repeals this decision and the Supreme Court will intervene. Again on this issue. "

Meretz faction chairman, MK Tamar Zandberg: "A welcome and important decision. It is time for Israel to break free from the shackles of the rabbinical monopoly, which is run according to a narrow religious current, and to welcome those who chose to join Judaism through Reform and Conservative conversion. It is the home of all Jews and not a state of halakhah. "

The Torah and Labor Trustees Movement: "The Supreme Court ruling was expected following the long-standing ultra-Orthodox insistence that increasingly raised the walls of conversion. In practice, the ruling will not bring about a major change in reality, "They are unable to agree on solutions, they are rolling the decision to the court that will do the work for them. We hope that the religious public will learn the lesson and not be afraid to be the next, the initiator and leader in matters of religion and state."

Chairman of Jewish Power, Adv. Itamar Ben Gvir: "The High Court has become the home of the Reform movement and undermines the Jewish identity of the State of Israel.

The serious ruling published today opens a dangerous opening that will make it possible to erase the Jewish majority in the country and turn it into a state of all its citizens. "

"In the upcoming elections with Israel, it will have to decide between a right-wing government that will enact a ceasefire, reform the judiciary and preserve the state's Jewish identity - and a dangerous left-wing government that will allow the High Court to continue to exercise de facto Jewish law."
