The reality of the Artists Syndicate under Law 40, its internal and financial system, health insurance, medicine, and the Eastern Province branch are the most important issues discussed by the annual general conference of the Artists Syndicate, which was held in the Al-Hamra Theater Hall in Damascus today.

The conference, which was held under the title “Artists, a creative faction committed to community issues and contributes to building the nation and mankind.” Its members discussed the results of the Syndicate’s branches conferences in the governorates in addition to the requirements for working in them with a presentation of what the Artists Syndicate has achieved in its current session.

The members of the conference discussed the participation of the Syndicate and its members in the upcoming constitutional entitlements, believing in the role of the artist as one of the influential opinion makers by inviting citizens to participate in these entitlements in addition to the reality of the Syrian drama as a basic artistic creation that reflects our issues and reflects our ideas and ways to overcome the effects of the unjust economic blockade on Syria to return the drama industry to its glory.

The head of the Artists Syndicate, Zuhair Ramadan, said in a statement to SANA, “This conference is the first in its regular session under the shadow of the new Law 40, which was approved two years ago. Members of the conference a great responsibility. ”

Ramadan indicated that the current law opened new horizons and tasks for the work of the union, through which it was able to increase its imports despite the impact of the Corona pandemic in addition to obtaining more rights, advancing the relationship with relevant ministries and institutions, increasing health insurance and raising the pension salary for fellow artists, indicating that the union will work to restore all Qualitative festivals in the governorates, as well as the launch of the first festival of theater that the city of Damascus will host, with the development of the Syndicate's participation in Arab artistic activities.

Music artist Kamal Hariri, a member of the Central Syndicate Council, explained that one of the most important achievements of this session after the issuance of Law 20 was to give powers to the branches of the union in subjects related to the livelihood of artists from the Syndicate Funds whose proceeds go to health insurance.

Tamader Ghanem talked about the importance of holding the conference because it discusses issues related to artists and their conditions and the necessity to implement the recommendations of the union’s branches in the governorates through its conferences of recommendations related to health insurance, pension and other things, which must be discussed and solutions found.

Maestro Nazih Asaad, a member of the Syndicate Central Council, indicated that there is a continuous effort by the Syndicate and its Council to improve the status of art and artists in order for the artist to innovate, whether in drama, music, theater or art.
