US MPs have expressed their grave concern over the Turkish regime's continuing flagrant violations of human rights in Turkey, calling on President Joe Biden's administration to address these violations.
Reuters reported that 170 members of the House of Representatives, including Greg Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Mike McCall, a prominent Republican member, sent Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken a statement explaining that the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his party, had weakened the Turkish judiciary, identified political allies in key military and intelligence positions, and imprisoned us. Unjustly, political opponents, journalists, and members of minorities.
The American representatives also called on President Biden's administration to address the "worrying" human rights issues and take them into account in its policy towards Turkey.
Erdogan's regime launched a campaign against its opponents more than four years ago, which included all public sectors and led to the arrest of tens of thousands and the dismissal or suspension of work for about 150 thousand government employees, members of the army, police, judiciary, media and others.
