Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned the United States and the European Union about the wrong behavior in the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stressing that Iran has mechanisms to respond to any decision that the Council might take against it.
Iranian IRNA news agency quoted Zarif as saying today on the sidelines of the meeting of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Shura Council that “the implementation of a draft resolution against Iran in the Agency’s Board of Governors will lead to the instability of the current situation,” pointing out that Tehran has provided a necessary explanation to the members of the Board of Governors about the current conditions. And she hopes they'll act with reason.
Zarif added, "Some European countries started a wrong move in the board of governors with the support of the United States. We presented, through our ambassador in Vienna, an explanation to the council members, and we hope that they adopt reason, and if this is not achieved then we have mechanisms."
The Western media revealed that the European Union sought to pass a resolution against Iran during the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
On the 23rd of last February, Iran announced a moratorium on voluntary implementation of its obligations under the additional protocol to the nuclear agreement and affirmed that it would not allow IAEA inspectors to enter any site outside the safeguards agreement linked to the joint work plan. Sanctions and the respect of other parties for their obligations thereunder.
The new US administration is still insisting on the policy of sanctions and pressure against Iran, despite the departure of the previous administration, which decided to withdraw from the nuclear agreement unilaterally in 2018.
