Former Lebanese MP Emile Lahoud affirmed that President Bashar Al-Assad has shown, in the last ten years, which were the most difficult in the history of Syria, sobriety and wisdom, the equivalent of which was less than that and dealt with reality calmly and with high political acumen.

Lahoud pointed out in an article entitled “About a friend of Lebanon I write” that President al-Assad assured all of the Lebanese politicians that he met with the dangers of what is being hatched for the region and the warning that Lebanon will turn into a security-free region, which threatens its stability on the one hand and turns it into a dagger in the Syrian side on the other hand.

Lahoud explained in the article that came in a series of articles included in the book “The Leader Al-Assad Honorable Pages from the History of Resilience” issued by the Syrian Book Organization that President Al-Assad is most alert to the danger of the self-distancing policy advocated by some Lebanese politicians because it will turn this country into an additional battlefield against Syrian.

Lahoud pointed out in a paragraph titled “Al-Wafi, Rejecting Temptations” that President Al-Assad followed the method of assimilation with Lebanon and remained committed to his Lebanese alliances and his friends and did not agree to a proposal discussed by some with him to close the borders with Lebanon and did not deal in a reactive manner against those who deny Syria, indicating in the “brother already” paragraph. That some in Lebanon dealt with Syria and its leadership from a position

Searching for an Interest However, President Al-Assad stood in support of Lebanon in all forums.

Lahoud deals with examples in which the Syrian and Lebanese positions coincide with fateful issues, including standing up to the attempt to disarm the Lebanese National Resistance south of the Litani River and considering the Shebaa Farms and Kafr Shuba hills as disputed lands in the 2007 Riyadh summit.

Lahoud concluded his article by affirming that President al-Assad’s view of Lebanon is the vision of partnership in the historical victories that were achieved in the years 2000 and 2006, which the Arab world had never seen before, and this vision has not changed over the years.

It is noteworthy that Emile Lahoud, holder of a master's degree in international relations from the Lebanese American University, was elected in 2000 as a member of the Lebanese Parliament and Chairman of the Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee.
