Forty-seven pan-democrats involved in the early elections last year were accused of violating the "Minato National Security Act" and charged with conspiracy to subvert state power. The hearing entered the second day.

After the first day of the "marathon", the hearing lasted for nearly 10 hours. In the end, the defendant fainted without support, and a total of 5 people were sent to the hospital to end.

During the hearing on the second day, Chief Magistrate Su Hui-te’s attitude was significantly softened, and a more humane arrangement was adopted. If the defendant also enjoys lunch and dinner time, the hearing will only be postponed to 9-10 pm in the evening, and the defendant will be exposed. Some defendants with insufficient rest are allowed to leave court early.

But in the end there were still 8 defendants who needed to apply for bail. Guan Su said that he was confident that he could hear all the lawyers' statements on the third day. When a lawyer asked him if he could make a decision right away, Guan Su responded: "Absolutely. "

The defendant claimed that he was not sent back to the detention center until the morning

After the long hearing of the defendants the day before yesterday, the trial was originally scheduled to resume at 11 a.m., but the trial would not be officially opened until about 12 a.m.

However, during the whole day of hearings, many defendants showed fatigue in the court. Among them, lawyers representing Liang Huangxiong and "Quiebi" Tan Dezhi revealed that Liang and Tan had been hearing on the first day until 7 am on the second day. He was sent back to the Lai Chi Kok Detention Center. During this period, he only had a short rest. At about 10 o'clock, he was arranged to get on a prison car and sent back to the court.

Yesterday, Dai Yaoting, who had to go to the High Court to attend the appeal of the "Occupy Nine Sons" case, left the detention center at about 9 a.m.

Some defendants were escorted away in prison vehicles and sent to detention centers.

The defendant was given time to eat

Su Guan expressed his understanding of this and made more humane arrangements accordingly. For example, although he officially opened the court at 12 o'clock, the court will still be closed for lunch at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. At about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, he also stated: "I will not meet tonight. It’s like last night.” He said that the hearing will only go on until 9:10 in the evening, and it will be postponed tomorrow.

He also allowed the defendant to have a dinner time in the evening. At about 7 o'clock, he learned that the defendant's dinner was ready, and then adjourned the court for half an hour to allow the defendant to eat.

Insufficient rest, the defendant shall be released early

At around 9 pm, he noticed that the defendant was "tightening," and asked some of the defendants who were not adequately rested to go back first.

Defendants Lin Jingnan and He Qiming successively suffered from breathing difficulties and abdominal pain. They were also allowed to go to Caritas Medical Centre by ambulance before the end of the hearing.

The changing clothes problem is still unresolved

However, the inconvenience caused to the defendant by the long days of hearings does not stop there. One of the defendants’ barrister, Liu Weicong, revealed that after being detained, he had no shower or changing clothes for 3 days, and some defendants claimed that his family members could not change the clothes. Bring to them.

Among them, Li Jiada’s lawyer suggested that some defendants should be released on bail for a short period of time so that they can change their clothes. Guan Su said that the idea was creative but not feasible. He also pointed to the problem of changing clothes. The Correctional Services Department should have corresponding procedures and the court should not give instructions.

The bail applications of the last 8 defendants will be processed today

Although Su Guan claimed that he was going to hear the trial until about 9 pm, some lawyers had other work the next day and needed to make submissions first. The hearing still ended after 10:30 pm, and 8 defendants had not yet been released on bail. The application will be processed on the third day of hearing.

Regarding Su official hearing for a long time and asking careful questions from time to time, some lawyers tentatively asked whether Su Guan would make a bail ruling after hearing the defendants' application. Su Guan responded: " Absolutely." And the case was postponed until 12 noon on March 3 to continue.
