The Department of Justice issued a statement in the evening (2nd) in response, emphasizing that no one should interfere with the independent prosecution decision strictly in accordance with the law, reiterating that the prosecution decision is made after an objective analysis based on all admissible evidence, applicable laws and the "Prosecution Code". The statement also stated that Article 663 of the Basic Law states that the Department of Justice is responsible for prosecution work without any interference, and that the Department of Justice has sufficient evidence admissible by the court to give the case a reasonable chance of conviction. File a lawsuit.

The Department of Justice believes that the current case has entered judicial proceedings, and the public request for the immediate release of the defendant will be regarded as disrespect of Hong Kong's judicial and legal system. While the conduct undermines the rule of law, it will also be regarded as an attempt to interfere in Hong Kong affairs.

The Department of Justice emphasized that the "Hong Kong National Security Law" expressly stipulates that human rights including freedom of speech and assembly should be protected, and the principles of the rule of law including the presumption of innocence should be respected and abided by.

The statement stated that since the judicial proceedings of the case are still in progress, it is not appropriate to comment on the case further.
