INTERVIEW - In 2022, Emmanuel Macron knows that he would be judged on his management of the Covid. And especially by ... seniors. A vast electorate that he cannot afford to disappoint.

- How can we read the extension of AstraZeneca vaccination to people aged 65 to 75?

Bernard SANANÈS.

- We must first do a first health reading, since the elderly are the most exposed to Covid.

But there is also, of course, a political stake because those over 65 can represent nearly 3 out of 10 voters, according to the polls.

The retirees had mainly voted on the right in 2017 but, until the start of the health crisis, this electorate had been indulgent towards Emmanuel Macron.

This segment is a key element for the Head of State who had also allowed him to dry up part of the right-wing vote in the European elections.

But today, the confidence rating of "65 and over" with regard to Macron represents less than 4 in 10 people.
