A Porsche that belonged to soccer legend Diego Maradona will be auctioned and valued at between $ 180,000 and $ 240,000.

Maradona received the silver Porsche 911 in November 1992 while playing for Spanish club Sevilla during what was his last season in Europe.

Following the Argentine's death in 2020 at age 60, the rare vehicle was first put up for sale as part of a Bonhams auction in Paris that will take place March 3-10.

According to Bonhams, the car has a top speed of almost 260 kph and is one of 1,200 variants produced over a two-year period.

The car has been owned by the seller since 2016 and has traveled approximately 120,000 km.

"We are delighted to present this quintessential '90s Porsche with its unique and highly colorful provenance, which will appeal to many enthusiastic football collectors around the world," said Paul Darvill, Bonhams European Auction Director.

Maradona, one of the greatest footballers of all time and best remembered for his exploits with Argentina and the Italian club Napoli, died after suffering from heart failure in November last year.

He achieved divine status in Argentina, guiding his country to World Cup glory in 1986, and also in the city of Naples, where he helped Napoli win their first league title in 1987 and the UEFA Cup in 1989.

His brilliant career was marked by numerous controversies, including alcoholism, addiction, and a 15-month suspension from soccer after he failed a drug test in 1991.
