Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi met today in Jordan with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman al-Safdi.
The two discussed the promotion of commercial, economic and civic cooperation between the states as well as with the Palestinians, with an emphasis on trade, import and export, tourism and consular issues.
In addition, we discussed the regional developments, the common struggle with the corona virus and the opportunities and challenges these pose to the region.
This is the third meeting between the ministers on the Jordanian side.
Last week, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safdi said in an interview with the Jordanian channel a-Roya that a dialogue with Israel on the issue of bilateral relations has been taking place recently, after years of no progress. In the same breath, he stressed that when the Jordanian interest is to talk to Israel about bilateral issues, then the parties talk: "The issue of water is an issue we need to talk about together, it is a common issue for both sides. Crossing the Allenby Bridge is an issue that both sides must talk about. "Another is the export of goods to the West Bank. There are other daily matters."
