“Now it's five to twelve, soon we won't be able to go on!” “No perspective! We're running out of air! ”With clear words and a smart action, some restaurateurs in the Erding district protested against the months-long forced closure of their businesses in the corona lockdown.

We're running out of air! ”With clear words and a smart action, some restaurateurs in the Erding district protested against the months-long forced closure of their businesses in the corona lockdown.

Kirchasch / Erding– In Kirchasch, the Bauer family has set up a table in front of their guest house, as an invitation to potential guests.

The Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association had called on all of its members and partners to take part in this campaign under the motto "Set table & made bed".

“We have been closed since November 2nd.

We haven't been allowed to entertain guests since then, ”says Martina Brandhofer, describing the unfortunate situation at Gasthaus Bauer.

Not only has the restaurant and the large hall been banned from opening, the 15 guest rooms for craftsmen and other business travelers have also been mostly empty.

“Since there is currently no trade fair in Munich, we hardly have any overnight guests.

And craftsmen who work in Erding, for example, stay there overnight, ”says Brandhofer.

At least the kitchen still has a bit of work to do, because food can be ordered at the inn, and there is a pick-up service on Fridays and Sundays.

Five people, i.e. the closest family circle who also live on site, are directly affected by the forced closure.

But 20 other helpers, who usually take care of the guests, clean the rooms, work as waitresses or in the kitchen, have to wait until there is an opening perspective.

“There are also many mothers among the women who are now at home.

Four of them have become pregnant in the meantime, ”says Brandhofer.

Others, such as students, are now clearing shelves in the supermarket in order to be able to earn some money.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Prime Ministers will meet again with Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss how to proceed.

The gastronomy and hotel industry is at least hoping for a future.

The Bauer family also suffered from the corona pandemic in terms of health.

Four adults and three children had tested corona-positive before Christmas.

In addition, two family members had to undergo surgical procedures.

"At least they were able to recover well during this time," says the landlord's daughter Brandhofer.

She was happy to respond to the call of her professional association, “because we want to have a perspective and to communicate this.

Last year we were only able to host three of the 20 planned weddings in August and October.

Many couples are desperate and constantly ask about possible catch-up dates.

Some birthday parties also had to be canceled, ”says Brandhofer.

She had originally planned to set up a table with other colleagues in front of the Bockhorn town hall as a symbol of the protest.

When there was no interest, however, she decided to set up her own campaign at home.

"We want to show that we landlords adhere to our hygiene concepts, keep their distances and deal responsibly with the health of our guests and our staff," emphasizes Brandhofer.

"In any case, we are ready for openings and are looking forward to the Easter holidays with great joy," she says optimistically.
