The rehabilitation and employment of the Muglad House in Old Damascus is one of the projects that the Ministry of Culture is working to implement, so that this archaeological building can be invested functionally and cognitively.

During a presentation organized by the Ministry of Culture to study a project to rehabilitate and employ the volume house, with the participation of a group of engineers in various specialties within the Ministry of Engineering in the Ministry of Al-Assad National Library, the engineers supervising the study gave a detailed presentation on the stages of its preparation, ideas, proposals and initial recommendations to be discussed and put in the optimal framework for the purpose of rehabilitation And the employment of the Muglad House, which was rehabilitated and restored before 2010 and acquired by the Ministry of Culture in 2012, for cultural purposes.

In a statement to SANA, the engineer, Ayham Gabr, head of the project rehabilitation and employment committee, stated that the Muglad House was built around 1750 AD and rebuilt in 1840 and restored several times, the last of which was at the beginning of the twentieth century, pointing out that the committee’s role is to rehabilitate and restore it and provide a systematic scientific study to employ the spaces. In it in proportion to its heritage value and aesthetic privacy.

Engineer Nada Al-Satti from the Technical Office at the Ministry of Culture explained that the committee has developed a set of ideas to transform this archaeological house into one of Damascene art and heritage, indicating that these ideas that were discussed today with experts and university professors specialized in the field of architecture and heritage will be developed and placed in its correct scientific and cultural framework. Which simulates international standards and maintains the heritage identity of the place.

The architect Saeed Al-Turk from the Ministry of Engineering Department talked about the features of the volume house, which is characterized by its openness towards the interior to the sea open to the sky, in addition to the multiplicity of its halls and the square in it as a basic component as well as the abundance of decorations in it.

The architect Mays Aqeel gave a detailed description of the house, as she showed that its current condition is good and needs some simple restorations, and that the committee's work will include the rehabilitation of the house, taking into account the elements of the tangible and intangible heritage in the rehabilitation processes that depend on employment and architectural furnishings in addition to the remaining works of electrical and mechanical installations. And technology without there being any interference on the structure of the house in order to preserve it in line with its historical importance.

The volume of the volume house was succeeded according to Aqeel, according to many architectural models, the most important of which is the Baroque style, which is evident in the abundance of decoration and frisk paintings, especially on the ground and upper floors.

The presentation was attended by deans and professors from Damascus University, experts in architecture, and representatives of the Syrian Trust for Development, in addition to professors, plastic artists, university specialists, trade unionists, and managers in the Ministry of Culture.
