Munich - The most sensitive phase in the corona policy is now approaching.

The virus is still among us, but the hard lockdown can no longer be maintained without accepting massive damage.

Chancellor and country leaders face a delicate task on Wednesday: They have to start a change of course, away from the brutal politics of locking, towards a cautious culture of enabling.

What we need now are ideas and innovations - in other words, what our companies have brought to world market leadership in many areas, which the state too often owed in the 16 years of Merkel's reign.

The chaos around the BER airport, around Stuttgart 21 and Munich's 2nd trunk line symbolizes the standstill in many areas: The health card, once praised by the Chancellor as a "lighthouse project", is still a torso after almost two decades of doctoring around, the toll system one Planning ruin.

Where it takes courage to progress, “German fear”, misgivings and bureaucratic obstacles have been ruling for too long.

Corona policy: fight with the slingshot instead of the means of a high-tech generation

In the virus crisis, many people paid for it with their lives, because in the progressive desert of Germany the paperwork in the health authorities and excessive data protection prevented quick contact tracking via warning app (a "crutch" is what Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Kretschmann rightly calls it) because vaccines were approved later than elsewhere and the introduction of quick and self-tests out of misunderstood perfectionism was forever examined, but not tackled.

That is why we are still fighting Corona with a slingshot instead of the means of a high-tech nation.

The latest example was the renewed postponement of the rapid tests by the tired Chancellor.

It would be important that everyone put their blinkers off now, that we enter the fight with Corona with a new way of thinking.

That we begin to fall in love with success.

Because the virus came to stay.

We must finally respond appropriately.

The two free rapid tests per week proposed by the Federal Minister of Health for everyone are a start.
