Handicrafts, various traditional crafts, and innovations in modernist forms emerged in the exhibition "Afkar" which was held by the Homs Governorate in cooperation with the Tourism Directorate in the "Royal Wedding" Hall, which lasts for three days.

Simple industries with their materials, but of great value, were presented in the exhibition, which included hundreds of art pieces from textiles, crochet, straw dishes, various shapes of flowers, candles, accessories, stationery, oriental sweets, mortar and others.

The women Sumaya Mando, Nermin Atassi and Ahd Abara who participate in the exhibition with embroidery work on fabrics found in the exhibition an opportunity to introduce the craft of embroidery and encourage girls to work with it from inside their homes, which provides them with job opportunities.

The architect, Maha Hanna, who participated in a variety of candy and chocolate of all kinds, in an attractive, artistic way suitable for various social occasions, she expressed her hope that the exhibition would contribute to finding additional marketing outlets.

Mrs. Nada Sheikh Othman's creativity is evident through her handicraft based on making candles in their beautiful shapes, types and colors. She says that casting candles with artistic molds is a craft that attracts the admiration of many, especially the young generation who sees her as a way to express weddings, birthdays and others.

Suzan Mahmoud and pharmacist Aman Al-Naasan, who share a variety of natural soaps in a variety of shapes and colors, see that the exhibition is an opportunity to display products on the one hand and learn about the experiences of others, benefit from and develop them on the other hand.

On a table decorated with straw dishes and baskets of geometric shapes and other heritage-derived ones, Mrs. Fatima Tohme, who inherited this craft from her grandmother, expresses her happiness for her first participation in the exhibition in which she sees an encouragement for the work of rural women with simple materials from her local environment.

On another table, the natural silk fabrics woven by the only loom in Homs are covered with the hands of its owner Sami Al-Naddaf, who described the exhibition as appropriate to introduce the new generation to what the grandparents created with their hands away from the industrial machine, expressing his hope that the craft of weaving on the loom would receive support from the concerned authorities by holding courses for youth This craft is immune to extinction.

Eng. Ahmed Akkash, Director of Tourism in Homs, explained in a statement to SANA that the exhibition is a window to see the heritage works and products of rural women from local industries and all kinds of mortar, and the aim of it is to support small workshops and search for ways to dispose of their products as it benefits women, their families and society.

Nora Rifai, in charge of the bazaar, explained that the exhibition in its name embraced many new and old and distinct ideas with the participation of 65 women, whose works we see as a form of renewal and development of a number of traditional crafts that contributed to the inclusion of women in the labor market in an encouraging way, pointing out that the exhibition has two societal and economic benefits.
