The Hong Kong Observatory said today (2nd) that since the northeast monsoon affecting southern China was generally weaker than normal for most of February, Hong Kong was much warmer and sunny than normal.

The monthly average maximum temperature is 23.5 degrees, the average temperature is 19.8 degrees, and the average minimum temperature is 17.5 degrees, which are 4.1 degrees, 2.7 degrees and 2.2 degrees higher than their normal values, setting the second, third and fourth highest records of the month respectively. .

The total sunshine time in February of this year was 205.1 hours, which was the normal value of 101.7 hours, which was more than doubled and was the fourth highest record in February.

Due to the unusually warm and sunny period in February this year, Hong Kong’s winter from December 2020 to February 2021 was warmer than normal, with an average temperature of 18 degrees, which is tied for the seventh highest on record.

As for the rainfall of 62.1 mm in February this year, it was about 60% higher than the normal value of 38.9 mm in February.

The cumulative rainfall for the first two months of this year was 62.1 mm, which was about 14% less than the normal value of 71.9 mm for the same period.
