Update from March 2, 12:08 p.m.:

Today, Tuesday, the regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency published the new unemployment figures for Bavaria.

Accordingly, Corona has had a noticeably negative impact on employment in the Free State - but this is not as high as feared.

In February, 316,632 people were unemployed.

This means that the unemployment rate in Bavaria is 4.2.

In comparison, it was 3.2 in February 2020 - even before the pandemic.

Nevertheless, the Free State has the lowest unemployment rate in all of Germany (6.3).

"In view of the ongoing restrictions to contain the pandemic, the labor market in Bavaria is relatively robust," said the chairman of the regional directorate, Ralf Holtzwart.

“However, the trend in unemployment should not hide the fact that the situation is tense.

The state subsidies cushion the stronger effects. ”Many employees in Bavaria are on short-time work, but the number of reports on short-time work has recently fallen again.
