The number of unemployed is falling slightly in the district.
That emerges from the monthly report of the employment agency.
However, companies are reluctant to open new job offers.
District
- The German economy is growing slightly, the labor market is quite robust: As the Employment Agency reports, 6607 people in the Munich district were unemployed in February.
That was 79 people fewer than in the previous month.
Compared to February 2020, however, 2031 more people registered as unemployed.
The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.5 percent.
"In view of the ongoing restrictions to contain the pandemic, the job market is doing relatively well," says Wilfried Hüntelmann, CEO of the Munich Employment Agency.
"Above all, the state support is still cushioning the stronger effects."
Fewer vacancies
In February, too, many employers are using short-time working to keep their employees.
However, there is still a clear reluctance to demand for new workers, at least in some sectors.
In February 2,239 job offers were received by the employment agency.
This was 1745 fewer jobs than in February 2020 (minus 43.8 percent).
The number of jobs was 7257.
This was 3958 fewer offers than in the same month last year and 712 fewer than in January.
