A special study conducted by the ERN Research Department's Payment Clearing reveals how many Israelis changed their consumption habits after opening the economy.

According to data collected from the moment the economy opened compared to the last week of the closure, ie between February 4 and February 10, it shows that the number of transactions made since the economy opened increased by 30%.

The industry with the highest increase in the number of transactions since the opening of the economy was the toy industry: a jump of 102%.

This is because on the eve of Purim the people of Israel went out to buy costumes.

At the same time, a sharp increase from the opening of stores can be seen in the clothing and supermarket industry.

According to the data, the number of transactions in the clothing industry increased by 19% compared to the last week of the closure, while in the supermarket industry there was a 22% increase in the number of transactions.

Also, the housewares industry can see its own 50% jump in the number of transactions after the opening of the economy.

Also in the segmentation of a geographical area, it seems that there has been an increase in the number of transactions.

In the center of the country, there was a 37.61% increase in the number of transactions since the opening of the economy compared to the last week of the closure;

In the southern region there was a 36% increase;

While in the northern region there was a 19.58% increase in the number of transactions.

Meanwhile, the volume of consumption in two sectors, the ultra-Orthodox and the Arab, were examined.

In the ultra-Orthodox sector, there has been a 53% increase in the number of transactions since the opening of the economy, and in the Arab sector there is a 10% increase in the number of transactions.

Shay Preminger, CEO of ERN, said: “We are witnessing numbers we have not seen before.

The people of Israel are back to buying and in a big way.

"We are seeing an impressive increase in the volume of check payments and standing orders in most mobile industries, indicating that consumers prefer to use payment methods that do not have a credit line at banks and credit card companies and enjoy flexibility in amounts and repayment dates."
