According to his own statement, a Bavarian party colleague was also involved in the mask deal of the CSU Bundestag member Georg Nüßlein.

As the former Bavarian Justice Minister Alfred Sauter announced to the Augsburger Allgemeine, as a lawyer he had drawn up the contract for a corona mask business with the Bavarian Ministry of Health.

The Bavarian CSU member of the state parliament said he found out about the delivery company "by chance" and then asked the ministry.

"In my work as a lawyer, I then drew up the contract, sent it to those involved and discussed it - everything about my law firm."

The 51-year-old Nüßlein is being investigated, among other things, because of the initial suspicion of bribery of elected officials in connection with the purchase of corona respirators.

Nüßlein is said to have received a commission of 660,000 euros so that he can establish contacts with the federal government and the Bavarian state government.

The entrepreneur Thomas Limberger is said to be the mastermind behind the protective mask deals.

Nüßlein's lawyer had stated that his client did not consider the allegations to be justified.

Nüßlein can rest his post as deputy chairman of the Union parliamentary group because of the allegations.

Sauter and Nüßlein come from the same constituency

Sauter said that he was only involved in the deal in connection with drawing up the contract.

"I didn't get a cent from the public purse, only from the supplier's circle." It had nothing to do with his work as a member of the state parliament.

Sauter is CSU district chairman in the Swabian town of Günzburg, from which Nüßlein also comes.

In the course of the investigation, the Bundestag recently lifted Nüßlein's immunity.

The Munich Public Prosecutor's Office then searched 13 objects in Germany and Liechtenstein on Thursday and seized evidence.

The Bundestag office in Nüßleins and its constituency office in Günzburg were also searched.
