The court of Senlis (Oise) on Wednesday sentenced Youssef M. to three years' imprisonment, two of which were suspended for drug trafficking

“When the police came to my house, with the dogs, they broke the door, the children were crying, I was shocked.

There, I realized the harm I was doing to my wife and my children.

"

In December 2019, Youssef M. was arrested at his home and the daily life of this family came to an abrupt end.

Between January 2012 and December 2019, this 40-year-old man supplied cannabis and herb to around twenty residents of Lamorlaye, Gouvieux and other municipalities around the south of the Oise.

“At first, we just smoked together with a few locals, we shared joints and it just happened.

One thing led to another, it gained momentum, ”loose the defendant who appeared this Wednesday before the court of Senlis and was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, two of which were suspended.

"He has always been someone on the margins"

Placed in pre-trial detention, the forty-something had especially wanted to protect Julie (the first name has been changed), his companion, suspected of having knowingly looked away from his activities.

She was sentenced to a one-year suspended prison term.

At home, in a village north-west of Compiègne, one of the garages of the family house has been transformed into storage space.

And at home are raided 1.5 kg of grass and 2 kg of cannabis, 14 telephones, packaging bags ...

“I told him that I was an Uber driver,” he said at the helm.

Each month, Youssef paid him € 1,500 in cash.

"But this money, it was not to celebrate", assures the defendant, evoking rather the food shopping and the bills to pay or the three children of the couple to feed.

"It was I who put my wife in this quagmire," he slips, tears in his eyes.

"I thought he had a taxi business"

The president then questions Julie: "He fed you every month in cash and that does not pose a problem for you?"

"The defendant retorts:" He has always been someone marginal, to accumulate odd jobs, it is part of the character.

I knew him like that.

"

For her, no doubt, her companion was indeed a driver for a mobile platform, not a drug dealer.

"I knew very well that it was moonlighting and that we were illegal for it, but I thought he was a taxi driver," says this nurse.

"Maybe it was easier for her to close her eyes, to allow the children to keep their way of life," asserts the prosecutor.

But this is not a small traffic, we found 15,000 € of cannabis and weed at his home.

She is not as guilty as Monsieur, but she is accused of having taken advantage without asking questions (...) The house and the cars were paid for with traffic money.
