While this Thursday released his biography, La Tête haute (Éditions Hugo Sport), Guy Novès gave a long preview to Le Figaro.
LE FIGARO.- In your biography, you cite many examples to demonstrate that you were "the target of a demolition company" from Bernard Laporte and Serge Simon when you were coach of the XV of France.
Guy Novès.-
I spent a first year with a president, Pierre Camou, who wanted me to come.
Then I found myself with a different direction (
Laporte and Simon, elected at the head of the FFR, Editor's note
) which gave me the feeling of doing everything to eject myself yes.
It has become very complicated.
I had become their target.
I do not think, for example, that Serge Simon would enter the locker room of the XV of France today to castigate the players in the presence of Fabien Galthié as he did with me during the tour in South Africa… They m 'imposed a lot of things.
They disowned me with the players.
No coach has suffered what I have suffered.
Anyway, I'm not going to redo my trial.
I would remind you, however, that they referred to a damning audit that does not exist, a serious fault that does not exist.
Today you talk about pain and relief about this episode ...
The pain can't go away like that.
But it has become reasoned because it should be put into perspective in view of all the suffering that people experience today.
And then the verdict of the trial rehabilitated me by proving me right… I just don't end my career as I would have liked to finish it.
I regret not having been able to go all the way, until this World Cup.
I was building.
It is therefore a great frustration.
At Stade Toulousain, I know how far we've come.
In the France team, I'll never know.
