In a press release published by his team on Wednesday, Charlie Dalin, second in the Vendée Globe, gave his news.

"I'm slowly but surely starting to recover well," said the skipper of the Apivia monohull.

I returned to a normal sleep pattern fairly quickly.

My nights are not disturbed and I do not dream that I am on the boat.

The first few days, I clearly held on to the adrenaline rush of the finish.

I didn't really feel the fatigue in the end;

which, on the other hand, fell on me quite suddenly a week after arrival.

During the first days, I had a jagged level of energy, with pumping strokes that came without warning ”.

And to add: “I am again back at the site where Apivia returned for about two weeks.

I go there almost every day.

Last week, I resumed physical training a little with the Pôle Finistère Course au Large.

But I'm going slowly, I'm careful not to increase in intensity too much for the moment.

I also started to debrief on the different aspects of the race, in particular on the technical part and on sleep (…) Terran life resumes its course.

I enjoy lots of small pleasures, such as taking a hot shower every day or having a more varied diet with fruits and vegetables.

And above all I spend time with my family to make up for my three months of absence.

I must admit that I did not see this first month on land after arrival.

And I have not yet taken any vacation, I will take a short week very soon… But it will be short, because I am already on deck for the rest ”.

 The follow-up will take the form of double-handed navigation, notably with the Transat Jacques Vabre.
