An earthquake measuring 5 degrees on the Richter scale struck today southwest of the city of Sechora in Peru, without any injuries.

The US Geological Survey stated that the quake was detected at a depth of 34.93 km, at 5.5884 degrees south latitude and 80.8663 degrees west longitude.

Peru is located in a seismic zone in the Pacific Ocean known as the Ring of Fire.
