In Burma, at least 38 protesters against the military coup have died on Wednesday alone. This is the day

Days go by and the deadly repression continues to rage in Burma.

Wednesday was "the bloodiest" day in Burma since the February 1 coup, with "38 dead," UN envoy for that country Christine said on a video conference call. Schraner Burgener.

Faced with the demonstrations, the security forces continue to fire live ammunition.

After firing tear gas and rubber ammunition, security forces opened fire with live ammunition in several towns to disperse the rallies.

In Yangon, the economic capital, at least six demonstrators were killed, according to a rescuer and a local journalist.

In four towns in the center, at least eleven protesters were killed, including two in Mandalay and seven a hundred kilometers away in Monywa, medical sources have learned.

State television, MRTV, reported four deaths in Monywa.

Protesters died exchanging gunfire, she said, saying the shots were not coming from the police or the army.

Also in the center of the country, in Myingyan, a 20-year-old boy was killed.

Determined protesters despite the crackdown

Internet shutdowns, strengthening of the repressive arsenal, waves of arrests, use of lethal force: the junta has continued to intensify its repression since the coup d'état that overthrew the civilian government of Aung San Suu Kyi.

Sunday was particularly murderous, with at least 18 dead in the ranks of the demonstrators.

"We now have more than 50 dead since the start of the coup, and multiple wounded," said Christine Schraner Burgener.

If they come to chase us away violently, continue to demonstrate peacefully, ”a young man shouts into a megaphone in Rangoon.
