Washington - SANA, US Congressional Police announced today uncovering a plot by an armed group to storm the Congregation building

Washington-SANA

Today, the US Congressional Police announced the discovery of a plot by an armed group to storm the US Congress building tomorrow, which coincides with the anniversary of the inauguration of the US President, which is the date that was in effect until the year 1933.

The Associated Press quoted the Capitol Police as saying in a statement that "we have intelligence information that reveals a possible plot to storm Congress by an armed group, scheduled for tomorrow, the fourth of March," without specifying the identity of this group.

The statement added that armed groups may exploit public gatherings, whether formally organized or spontaneous, to carry out acts of violence, and that the perceptions of these groups' members of the presidential election fraud and other conspiracy theories related to the presidential transition are continuing and contribute to the mobilization of violence without prior warning.

The fourth of March following the US presidential elections coincides with the date of the presidential inauguration and was in effect until 1933 before the date of the inauguration of the President of the United States changed to January 20.

Since the announcement of the US election results and the defeat of Donald Trump by his rival, Joe Biden, some Trump supporters have claimed that Trump will return to the White House on March 4.

The Capitol Police announced earlier today that it had strengthened its security measures, amid growing fears of an attack similar to the events of the storming of supporters of Trump, instigated by Congress on the sixth of last January.
