The thirteen million inhabitants of the region were the subject of special attention by the executive during the Defense Council held on Wednesday morning at the Elysee.

Monday, the option of weekend confinement in Île-de-France was clearly on the table.

This measure was notably defended by the prefects of the departments, despite the hostility of some of the local elected officials.

Ultimately, the 13 million Ile-de-France residents will be spared.

The decision was taken Wednesday morning, during a Health Defense Council which aimed to define new measures to fight the epidemic in the twenty departments placed

"under surveillance

".

At this time, the great elected representatives of Ile-de-France have still not been officially informed of the decision of the executive.

Sunday, on the set of the "Grand Jury" RTL-Le Figaro-LCI, the ex-LR president of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, said she wanted to

"do everything to avoid confinement"

- in whatever form either - but assured that it would not

The PS mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, for her part estimated on Monday that the curfew at 6 p.m. on weekdays combined with confinement on weekends was a measure

"difficult, hard, even inhuman" ...

After having itself caused an uproar this weekend by asking, through the voice of its first deputy Emmanuel Grégoire, a strict confinement of three weeks.
