Today, the Italian Ministry of Health announced that 20,884 new infections were recorded, in addition to 343 deaths during the past twenty-four hours.
"The total number of injuries reached two million 967 thousand and 274, while the total number of deaths reached 98,635," Italian news agency AKI quoted the ministry as saying.
She added that 4.5 million doses of vaccines against the Coronavirus epidemic have been distributed so far during the national vaccination campaign that began at the end of last year.
In the same context, a specialist in neurosurgery and professor of Imperial College London, Giorgio Gillestro, in commenting on the report of the Higher Institute of Health about the spread of Corona virus strains in Italy, "expected Italy to become internationally isolated because of the Brazilian strain that will prevail over all other strains."
