In Faenza, Piazza del Popolo is tinged with red in memory of Ilenia Fabbri, the 46-year-old who was slaughtered on February 6.

From this evening until 8 March, International Women's Day, the center of the square will be illuminated, between 18 and 23, by a beam of red light, a symbol of the fight against gender-based violence.

The initiative was commissioned by the councilor for Equal Opportunities, Milena Barzaglia, and by the 'SOS Donna' association. "We are facing yet another femicide - says Barzaglia - and both as a woman and as a public administrator, I feel great pain and a strong sense of helplessness. Ilenia's murder has upset our community and imposes us once again not to forget to commit themselves, as persons and as institutions, to combat, day by day, violence against women through cultural actions but also through active protection. I invite women who suffer violence, physical or psychological every day, to contact without any fear at our woman counter. The beam of red light in our main square is meant to be a signal in memory of Ilenia and all the victims of femicide ".
