For the prosecutor of Trapani they favored illegal immigration. Doctors Without Borders: 'Two investigations against us in one day'. Save the children: 'We are sure we have always acted in full compliance with the law' (ANSA)

The Prosecutor's Office of Trapani notified the notice of closure of the investigation, an act that generally precedes the request for indictment, to 21 people involved in a 2017 investigation that led to the seizure of the motor ship "Iuventa", which operated at sea to help migrants on behalf of the German non-governmental organization "Jugend Rettet".

The investigation, which assumes the crime of aiding illegal immigration, has also been extended to two other NGOs: Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders with the Prudence and Vox Hestia ships.

"After years of investigations, yesterday only, we received from the Prosecutor of Trapani the notice of closure of the investigations for aiding illegal immigration together with other humanitarian ships, and from the Gup of Catania the decision of indictment for trafficking illegal waste ".

This is what we read in a note from Doctors Without Borders.

"The decisions of the judiciary, a few hours later - adds MSF - lengthen the list of numerous attempts to criminalize rescue at sea, which to date have not confirmed any accusations, but which have dangerously weakened the rescue capacity".

"We are sure that we have always acted in full compliance with the law and international law and in constant coordination with the Italian Coast Guard. We reiterate that we have always worked only and exclusively to save lives. We are confident that the whole affair, not just everyone the facts will have been adequately represented and considered, it can be clarified by confirming the correctness of our work ".

Thus Save the children commenting on the notice of conclusion of the investigations notified by the Prosecutor of Trapani against some members and former members of Save the Children International and of the same Organization, in the context of the criminal proceedings relating to rescue activities at sea in the Mediterranean in the years 2016 and 2017.
