Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that her country is working to respond to the new sanctions imposed by Washington on Moscow.
Zakharova told Russia 1 channel today: "Do not worry, the response will come and work on it," adding: "They have already submitted to our countermeasures several times, so it seems to you what they are doing to us now is symbolic."
And the United States, similar to the European Union, announced yesterday the imposition of a package of sanctions that included institutions and high-level Russian officials that Washington considers related to the case of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny.
On the other hand, Zakharova indicated that the United States, which imposed sanctions on Moscow, presents itself as an opponent of the use and spread of chemical weapons, although it has not destroyed its stockpile yet, unlike Russia.
She said, "The United States assumed the role of a warrior to ban the production of chemical weapons despite the fact that Russia fulfilled its obligations several years ago to get rid of these weapons, while the United States took upon itself obligations that were not fulfilled and still possesses these weapons where they have not been disposed of." .
Moscow constantly asserts that the United States is the only country that has large stockpiles of chemical weapons that it procrastinates in destroying under various pretexts.
