Iranian President Hassan Rouhani affirmed today that if Washington lifted the sanctions and the unjust embargo imposed on Iran, it would immediately return to implementing its obligations under the nuclear deal.
"If there is a serious will to lift the embargo on Tehran, we will backtrack on the steps to reduce our nuclear commitments ... and if all parties abide by their obligations in the nuclear deal, we will do so," the Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Rouhani as saying during the cabinet meeting today.
Rouhani added, “We witnessed a slight change in the US administration’s statements, and we did not witness a practical change in its policy towards Tehran,” calling on this administration to clearly announce the mistake of the previous administration’s policies and provide compensation for the losses it caused.
He pointed out that the nuclear agreement is the most important political agreement signed by Iran in its history, and in this agreement it has done tremendous work and said: "It is clear to everyone that we can do everything we need in the field of installing centrifuges and peaceful research."
On the 23rd of last February, Iran announced that it would stop implementing its obligations under the additional protocol to the nuclear agreement, while the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed yesterday that the language of threat with Iran was not working, and that the policy of maximum pressure had failed, indicating its rejection of a proposal made by the Europeans last Sunday regarding an informal meeting on The nuclear agreement because of the recent positions and actions of America and the European Troika.
To that, Rouhani referred to the recovery of the Iranian economy, even under the conditions of the unjust embargo, indicating that Iran could "develop in the nuclear field and various other fields despite all the difficulties."
