The new "Budget" announced that the Environment Bureau will announce the first roadmap for the popularization of electric vehicles in Hong Kong next month, including the suspension of new registration of petrol-fueled private cars by 2035.

The Secretary for the Environment, Wong Kam-sing, explained in a radio interview this morning (3rd) that the goal is to meet the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and to improve air quality.

He also emphasized that to promote the popularization of electric vehicles, the key is to have sufficient charging facilities and whether the market can provide vehicles with different prices.

Last year, we launched the Easy Charge Plan and added 5.5 electric parking spaces

Huang Jinxing mentioned in the Radio Television Hong Kong program "Millenniums" that one out of every eight newly registered private cars in Hong Kong last year was an electric car, which is the highest percentage outside of the Mainland in Asian cities.

He believes that the most important thing is to be able to provide charging in housing estates, so the government has adopted incentive measures 10 years ago to equip new buildings with charging facilities.

Last year, the "Budget" launched the "Easily Charging Funding Scheme for EV Housing Estates" to assist private residences in installing electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Huang Jinxing described the plan as positive. The original goal was to increase 60,000 related parking spaces within three years. At present, more than 200 housing estates have applied for 55,000 parking spaces.

The government also proposes to gradually reduce the tax concessions for electric vehicles. Huang Jinxing explained that the purpose of providing more tax concessions is to reduce the price difference between private cars and petrol cars. However, when the price of electric vehicles becomes more and more affordable, the government needs to maintain compliance. Proportional incentives.

The government has allocated an additional 1 billion yuan to the "Recycling Fund" to support the recycling industry, and more than 1,000 companies are expected to benefit.

Huang Jinxing said that in recent years, there have been significant changes in the regulation of the recycling industry in the world and the Mainland. The recycling industry is facing "adversity"; Hong Kong also needs to increase its efforts to cope with the future garbage levy. Therefore, the government has increased its support for the recycling industry to reduce The pressure on landfills and the promotion of green employment to support the public during the epidemic.

On February 26, Huang Jinxing said that when electric vehicles become mainstream, tax incentives will gradually decrease.
