Due to the shortage and difficulty in recruiting teaching staff in Eilat, the municipality offers a grant of NIS 85,000 each year for a decade to new teachers who will move to live in the city, with a long-term commitment.

Teaching staff who are allowed to join the program are those whose place of residence for the past five years is not in the Eilat and Arava area, and they will move their place of residence to the city towards the beginning of the next school year.

Teachers are also required to have an academic degree and teaching certification, or hold a teaching license or teaching license, as well as teaching staff in the internship year.

According to the new plan, teaching staff who move to Eilat will be able to enjoy an annual grant of NIS 60,000 for each school year.

With a two-year commitment, the annual grant will increase to NIS 72,000, and with a 4-year commitment, the grant will jump to NIS 85,000 each year.

In addition, the new teachers as residents of the city of Eilat will receive a 10% income tax benefit.

The first part of the grant will be paid in the November salary and the second part will be paid in the May salary.

"The new incentive program is another and unprecedented step in investing in the municipal education system," says Dr. Drori Ganiel - head of the ECHR municipality's directorate

"A teacher who comes to the city for several years, can only earn hundreds of thousands of shekels from the grants, which will help him buy an apartment, for example, regardless of the regular monthly salary he receives. The city of Eilat has a lot to offer teachers. "Entertainment, a small and embracing community, and unparalleled urban nature," he added.
