Occupied Jerusalem - SANA

A new settlement plan announced by the Israeli occupation to establish 930 settlement units on the lands of the towns of Beit Hanina, Hazmah and Anata in the northeast of occupied Jerusalem within the extensive Judaization and settlement plans that target the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem, ignoring all international resolutions, especially Security Council Resolution No. 2334 of 2016, which confirms the illegality of settlements in The occupied Palestinian territories and demands to stop it.

The new plan is part of dozens of settlement plans aimed at judaizing Jerusalem and its surroundings by intensifying settlement activity and linking settlements with each other after the construction of settler roads deep into Palestinian towns and villages in the north and south of Jerusalem, where the occupation authorities had recently announced plans to establish thousands of units in the Holy City and its environs, threatening to isolate them Finally, the rest of the West Bank and the displacement of thousands of Palestinians, as part of the implementation of annexation plans that are rejected by the Palestinians and internationally, and the imposition of new facts on the ground that undermine any opportunity for the establishment of an independent and geographically connected Palestinian state.

Director General of the Department of Maps and Survey at Orient House in Occupied Jerusalem, Khalil al-Tafakji, indicated in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the occupation aims, from the 930 unit plan, to besiege the towns of Beit Hanina, Hazmah and Anata by settling the apartheid wall and bypass roads, leading to the displacement of Palestinians from those areas, indicating that it is part of The occupation plan, which was implemented in 1985 and aims to establish 27 thousand settlement units in these areas, completely seize the lands of Beit Hanina, Anata and Hazmah, and complete the linking of settlements around Jerusalem.

Al-Tafakji pointed out that the escalation of the settlement process coincides with the intensification of the occupation operations of demolishing Palestinian homes and establishments in Jerusalem to put pressure on its residents who are facing the processes of settlement, Judaization and displacement by clinging to their land and properties at a time when the international community continues its silence on the settlement crime.

For his part, Director of the International Jerusalem Center, Hassan Khater, said that the settlement plan that the occupation began to implement aims to expand the settlements on the lands of Beit Hanina from the west and Hazmah from the east and Al-Ram, in order to isolate those towns on the northeastern side of Jerusalem from each other by cutting off communication between them. And tightening the settlement cordon on Jerusalem from the northeastern side, and isolating those towns from Jerusalem.

Khater stated that the towns of Ram, Jaba and Issawiya in Jerusalem have also become besieged by settlements from all directions, and Palestinian entry has become difficult, and this is part of a systematic plan of the occupation to displace Palestinians and isolate Jerusalem from its surroundings with settlement belts and bypass roads, but the steadfastness of Jerusalemites will fail all occupation plans.
