The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement by the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an investigation into war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the Palestinian territories.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement today reported by Wafa: This long-awaited step serves Palestine's relentless endeavor to achieve the justice and accountability that the Palestinian people demand and deserve.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry stated that the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians are continuous, systematic and widespread, which makes the rapid completion of the investigation an urgent and necessary necessity.
Earlier today, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, announced the opening of an official investigation into war crimes committed in the Palestinian territories.
