Today, the People's Assembly held its nineteenth session of the second ordinary session of the third legislative session chaired by Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the Assembly.

At the beginning of the session, the Minister of State for People's Assembly Affairs, Eng. Maloul Al-Hussein, gave a presentation on the decisions taken in the Council of Ministers yesterday regarding the service and living situation, and then a number of members of the Council stressed in their interventions the need to improve the standard of living of citizens and intensify the patrols of ration control on markets and limit the rise in prices Basic commodities and materials, holding the monopolists accountable and those manipulating the citizen’s food, addressing the causes of congestion at furnaces and gas stations, and reducing the hours of electric rationing.

A number of Council members denounced the so-called “Caesar Act” and the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people that lead to increasing the suffering of citizens and depriving them of their most basic rights, calling at the same time to hold the corrupt accountable and apply the principle of transparency and frankness with the citizens and inform them of what measures can be taken. Service and living according to the available capabilities and limited resources.

In response to the members' interventions, the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, affirmed that the government is intensifying work according to the available economic potential and the available resources to improve the economic and living conditions and reduce the burdens that have recently increased on the shoulders of citizens, control spending, reduce the import bill and raise the volume of exports, which requires accelerating the pace of production. This is what the government is working on by supporting medium, small and micro enterprises and promoting the principle of self-reliance.

The council went on to discuss the new investment bill, as the members agreed by majority to Articles 11, 13 and 14 related to the management of the Syrian Investment Authority.

In accordance with Article 13, the Authority’s Board of Directors undertakes additional tasks to what is stated in Article 10 of it .. “Study proposals related to investment and approve what is necessary in their regard, raise proposals for developing the legislative environment for investment, cancel exemptions, benefits, or facilities granted in accordance with the provisions of this law, and approve regulations for the Authority’s work and plans. And its work programs, approval of establishing branches or representative offices for it, and suggesting allowances for services provided by the authority and its incentive system.

After extensive discussion, the Council agreed by majority to return Article 12 to the Economic Affairs and Energy Committee to study it again and prepare the necessary report on it, given its connection to Article 6, which was returned in yesterday's session to the aforementioned committee, which is related to the formation of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Investment Authority as a chairman and members, where a number of members saw The Board The necessity to re-study the membership of public entities and add other members to the Board of Directors

The session rose to 11 pm tomorrow, Thursday.
