U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said tonight (Thursday) that the United States opposes the prosecutor's decision in the International Criminal Court in The Hague and is disappointed with it.
"We are committed to Israel's security and to taking action against Israel in an unfair manner," Price said in Washington's initial response to the decision.
Price went on to say that "Israel is not a member of the tribunal and we have serious concerns about the tribunal's attempts to impose its authority on Israel. The Palestinians are not a state and therefore cannot be members of the tribunal or give it jurisdiction. Examines the sanctions imposed on the tribunal by the previous administration. "
