Stockholm-Sana

Volvo Cars announced that by 2030, it will stop selling cars that run on fossil fuels extracted from (coal, natural gas, and oil) and will move to electric cars.

The company aims, according to its official website, to have half of its sales in 2025 from electric cars and the other half from hybrid cars, which will only be via the Internet, which means that it will stop selling cars that run on gasoline or diesel after 4 years from now.

"There is no long-term future for cars with internal combustion engines, and the move to selling only electric cars will allow the company to meet the needs of its customers and be part of the solution when it comes to combating climate change," said Henrik Green, chief technology officer of the company.

Other carmakers had announced plans in recent months to accelerate their move to electric cars, as Ford said in February it planned to sell electric passenger cars only in Europe by 2030.
