Three journalists were killed yesterday in eastern Afghanistan, in another deadly attack against the country's media.
ISIS today (Wednesday) claimed responsibility for the shooting of the three women, who worked at the local TV station "Onyx" in the city of Jalalabad.
According to Afghan sources, they were 18 to 20 years old and were shot on the way back from work to their homes.
A fourth woman was injured in the attack, and was evacuated to a hospital in critical condition.
"Such attacks against innocent civilians, especially women, contradict Islam, Afghan culture and the spirit of peace, and they prolong and complicate the current crisis and war," said Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
The three young journalists were buried today.
"In the past, these killings used to happen in the villages, but now they also happen in the cities," said the aunt of Saadia Sadat, one of the journalists killed, who accused the authorities of failing to provide basic security to the country's citizens.

However the organization, which itself is in conflict with the more radical ISIS, has denied this.
The Afghan government and the Taliban are holding talks in Doha on a political settlement to end decades of war, but they have made very little progress and violence has escalated in recent months, particularly against media figures, civil society activists and judges.
Following this, the United States is considering the process of withdrawal from the country, which was agreed between the Taliban and the previous administration of Donald Trump.
His successor, President Joe Biden, has not yet decided whether to return all U.S. forces by May, as planned.
