The Directorate of Water Resources in Hama Governorate has completed the rehabilitation work of the water barrier gates on the bank (B) in the village of Sharia, according to the contract that was concluded with the General Company for Water Projects, Central Region Branch, with a value of one hundred million and 75 thousand pounds.
The Director of Water Resources, Engineer Fadi Al-Abbas, stated in a statement to SANA that the work included the rehabilitation of the 10 water barrier gates, along with providing all the mechanical equipment necessary for his work, indicating that the aim of the gates rehabilitation operations is to organize and drain rain water and avoid flooding any areas of agricultural land in addition to raising The water level of the drain to make the most of the water for irrigation of agricultural lands on both sides of the drain.
Al-Abbas pointed out that the works to rehabilitate the two main channels C1 and C2 are being pursued according to the contract signed with the General Company for Water Projects, Central Region Branch, with a value of about 490 million Syrian pounds, where the percentage of executed works reached 80 percent and includes the implementation of concrete cladding works and the rehabilitation of damaged sites in the two channels with a length of 3900 Meters, with the aim of increasing the water rationing, increasing the efficiency of the concrete canal, and providing the irrigation water necessary for the needs of all lands cultivation and returning it to service and agricultural production, especially with the approval of the sugar beet cultivation plan, especially in the Al-Ghab region.
