At about 9 pm on March 3, the police received a report from a 48-year-old woman surnamed Wang at Da Kok Tsui’s Daquan Street apartment, saying that she had received a website suspected of counterfeiting a bank. The wife entered her bank’s online financial management on the website. After logging in the password, it was discovered that the account had been transferred several times, a total of about 150,000 yuan.
Upon receiving the report, the police officers arrived at the scene and subjected to preliminary investigation. The case was listed as "Acquisition of Property by Deception" and was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Team of the Mong Kok Police District for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.
Recently, many citizens have received "Urgent Notice" short messages about "Bank of China Hong Kong", stating that fraud cases continue, requiring customers to log on to the website for "triple authentication".
However, the short message was accompanied by a link to a fake website.
